4 Days Mount Meru trekking
Overview
Embark on a four-day trek up Mount Meru for an immersive adventure through varied landscapes. Day one begins at Momella Gate, leading you through dense rainforests teeming with wildlife. Day two sees you ascending into heath and moorland, passing striking rock formations like the “Majestic Cathedral.” On day three, rise early for the challenging summit push to Socialist Peak, where panoramic views await. Finally, on day four, descend back through the forest, reflecting on your accomplishment. With experienced guides and breathtaking scenery, Mount Meru offers an unforgettable trekking experience, providing a taste of Tanzania’s natural beauty and adventure spirit.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN ARUSHA
Arrive in Arusha, Tanzania’s safari capital, and meet with your tour operator or guide. Briefing and equipment check for the climb.
Overnight stay in Arusha to acclimatize to the altitude.
DAY 2: MOMELLA GATE TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT
Transfer to Momella Gate, the starting point of the climb, after breakfast. Complete park registration formalities and begin the ascent through lush montane forest.
Arrive at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m/8,248ft) for overnight stay, enjoying stunning views of Mt. Meru and the surrounding landscapes.
DAY 3: MIRIAKAMBA HUT TO SADDLE HUT
Continue the trek through heather and moorland zones, with occasional wildlife sightings. Reach Saddle Hut (3,570m/11,712ft), situated between Little Meru and the main summit, offering panoramic views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the Meru Crater.
Rest and acclimatize at Saddle Hut in preparation for the summit push.
DAY 4: SUMMIT DAY – SADDLE HUT TO SUMMIT AND DESCENT TO MIRIAKAMBA HUT
Begin the ascent to the summit (4,566m/14,980ft) in the early hours of the morning, aiming to reach the peak by sunrise. Summiting rewards climbers with breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscapes. Descend back to Saddle Hut for breakfast before continuing the descent to Miriakamba Hut.

DAY 5: DESCEND TO MOMELLA GATE AND RETURN TO ARUSHA
Descend through the montane forest, enjoying the sights and sounds of the natural surroundings. Arrive at Momella Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha for a well-deserved rest and celebration.

Transfers:
- Return transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to accommodation in Moshi;
- Return transfer from accommodation in Moshi to the entry gate into Kilimanjaro National Park.
Entry fees:
- Park Fees: all park fees collected by Kilimanjaro National Park (conservation fees, camping fees, crew fees, vehicle fee, rescue fee and all others).
Accommodation:
Accommodation at 3* hotel (Lux Palace Hotel (https://luxpalacehoteltz.com ) ) one night before and one night after the expedition. You will have all for a comfortable stay – friendly staff, clean rooms, Wi-Fi and restaurant;
- Tented accommodation on Mount Kilimanjaro (modern comfortable 4-season North Face VE-25 tents);
Please note: by default, you will have a private room and a tent during the climb
Meals:
- Breakfast in the hotel before and after the hike;
- All meals on the hike. You will find delicious energy-rich meals on our mountain menus. Our professional chefs will prepare assorted soups, garnishes, several types of fish and meat, fresh fruit and vegetables. Vegetarian/gluten-free/halal options are available at no extra cost;
- All drinks on the hike (coffee, tea, hot chocolate and water).
Hiking and safety equipment:
- 4-inch (10-cm) thick and comfortable sleeping mats;
- All group equipment (dining tent, table, chairs, crockery and cutlery);
- Oximeters;
- Complete medical kits including Diamox.
Climbing crew:
- Professional guides licensed by Kilimanjaro National Park. All guides are holder of Wilderness First Responder certification. All of them have 7+years of successful experience;
- Dedicated support crew (assistant guides, camp master, porters, cooks, etc.).
Taxes:
- 18% VAT, 1% TDL and 0.3% Service Levy. Kiliholidays is an honest and responsible tour operator working in full compliance with the tax law of the United Republic of Tanzania.
Excluded
- International flights;
- Tips (300-500 USD per climber for the whole mountain crew);
- Visa fee (100 USD for American citizens and 50 USD for all others);
- Personal gear rentals;
- Lunch and dinner at the hotel (before and after the climb);
- Portable toilets (if required – 250 USD per unit, one can be shared between 3 people);
- Mountaineering insurance. You’ll need special insurance for climbing Kilimanjaro that covers high-altitude trekking up to 6000 m.
